What’s the motivation behind the FTF Impact Store?

The FTF Impact Store is an initiative by For The Future (FTF) Ghana. We are an NGO that is alleviating the plight of underprivileged children through impactful and sustainable initiatives empowering them in education, healthcare and giving them access to endless opportunities. Since 2016, we have directly touched the lives of over 8,000 across Ghana and now in Nigeria, sometimes including their families as well.

For years, we’ve relied heavily on crowdfunding and donations to support underprivileged children, and it hasn’t always been easy. There have been months where we didn’t know how we were going to keep some of our children in school. The FTF Impact Store came from a place of wanting to create something sustainable, something that wouldn’t depend on people giving out of pity or emotion every single time. We wanted to build a structure that could generate funds consistently, while also connecting more people to our cause through something as simple and everyday as shopping. This is to supplement the crowdfunding and grants so that we wouldn’t have to get to a point where we have to return our beneficiaries back to the slums and streets just because we can no longer afford to kwep them in school.

What do you hope to achieve with this?

We hope that the FTF Impact Store becomes a powerful funding vehicle for the children we support for years to come. We also hope it grows into a platform that inspires families to shop with intention, knowing that every item they buy is giving another child a chance at life. We want people to feel good about their purchases, and more importantly, we want to keep as many children as possible in school and thriving.

For now we are operating virtually and through pop ups at fairs but we hope to have our own space soon for our sales where we can also have sessions which our children there such that they can create eco-friendly materials like tote bags for sale. Our intention is to build entrepreneurial spirits in them.

Who are your targets?

The plan is to sell children and family centered items from books, to stationeries and everything children.

Our primary audience is families; parents, guardians, aunties and uncles, even teachers, anyone who loves children and understands the power of education. We want to spread the reading culture among children both beneficiaries and every child and promote literacy in Ghana and beyond.

We also want to reach people who believe in meaningful giving, but may not know how to get involved. The store creates that opportunity. And of course, children themselves are at the heart of it all: we want them to benefit and also feel part of the process.

Special highlight of the launch eg. Dignitaries present

One of the most beautiful things about the launch was how community-centered it was. We had our FTF beneficiaries present, which was very emotional for many people who have followed their stories. The joy on their faces reminded us of why we do what we do. We also had respected parents, educators, and friends of FTF join us to shop, support, and connect. Some of our cherished partners like The WIT School in East Legon gave us their full support and opened up their beautiful space to host us. Global Ovations also sponsored us by giving us a giant screen to show all the impactful work we have done since 2016. That in itself was a blessing.

There were free public speaking, creativity and writing workshops for all the children who attended. It was very fun and educative

How does the impact store support your efforts to provide sustainable funding for underprivileged children towards education?

It allows us to generate income without relying solely on asking people to donate. Every single cedi that comes in from a book or an item sold is reinvested directly into a child’s education: school fees, meals, healthcare, mentorship, many opportunities outside the classroom, the full package. The store turns support into something that keeps giving. Instead of saying “please donate,” we’re saying “buy something you love, and change a life while at it. So our slogan is “Shop To Change A Life”

What is your message to children?

To every child out there, whether you’re born into privilege or hardship, your life matters. Your dreams matter. You are capable of greatness, and your current situation does not define your future. The world needs to see that beautiful gift and talent inside of you. Everyone has it. Keep dreaming, keep believing, and never forget that there are people like For The Future rooting for you. You’re not alone.

How do you expect parents to take up this initiative?

I hope parents will see this as more than just shopping. It’s a chance to teach their children about kindness, social responsibility, and empathy. When you buy from the Impact Store online or from any of our book fairs or pop ups, you’re not just buying a book you’re helping them understand that they can be part of someone else’s story of hope. I believe parents will find this meaningful and align with it naturally. We are also trying to create a culture of reading in every child because we believe it really matters. That’s why we are bringing all these books of different genres in literature, history, novels, textbooks, social-emotional learning books and so on. Hopefully in future, we’ll also launch a book club that allows the kids to sign up to borrow books monthly and return to pick another book later.

General expectations going forward

We’re hoping to grow this into something much bigger: pop-up stalls in supermarkets, Impact Store shelves in major shops, school-based drives, establishing a book club for kids to borrow from our collection of thousands of books, and eventually a physical store. We want to reach more children, engage more families, and create more touchpoints for impact. This is just the beginning.

How does the future look like for FTF and the Impact Store?

The future is bright, and we’re ready for it. We’ve come this far by faith, love, and community. With the right partnerships and continued support, we believe the Impact Store will fund hundreds, and thousands of underprivileged children. FTF will keep scaling our initiatives and remain ever committed to creating ethical leaders from underserved communities who in turn will support their communities. We’re building something long-term.

Final words from lawyer Kezia Asiedua Sanie

We are grateful. Grateful to everyone who believes in this vision and keeps showing up whether by donating, volunteering, or simply sharing our story. The Impact Store is proof that when young people care very much about something and take bold steps, real change happens. This is just the beginning. Real impact starts with us. We are For The Future.

She's thrilled to announce her next project, the Impact Store pop-up, is launching at the Palms Convention Centre at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on 2nd August 2025, poised to ignite meaningful transformation and inspire a brighter future.
